    Crafting Skill Breakdown

Here is a list of crafting Skills found in Aelyria. This is not an exhaustive list.

    Alchemy

Alchemy is a science seeking to both understand and take advantage of the underpinnings of the multiverse. The main, and most famous, product of this is usually found in potions capable of producing a vast variety of effects, although the versatile nature of alchemists mean that they are capable of mixing together various ingredients to create all manner of fantastic substances.

    Gadgeteering

Gadgeteering is the science of constructing mechanical devices balanced with the artistic creativity of innovating practical tinkerings that are imaginative yet functional. Long considered the dreamworks of crackpots and machinations of the insane and ingenius, Gadgeteering has emerged into the mainstream of Aelyrian society given a recent fascination with experimentation. Gadgeteers create interlocking gears using a variety of tools and implements, thereby arranging these gears to create a dynamic effect or consequence.

    Glassblowing

Glassblowing is a craft in which artisans create glass objects by shaping molten, semi-liquid glass using various manipulations with the hands and special tools of the trade. Through this process a glassblower can create any number of useful and ornamental objects. Glassblowing is viewed as a mix of art and function, with glassblowers producing pieces that range from dining ware and vases to stained glass windows and delicate figurines. Given that glass is not readily available in most locations, the products produced by these artisans are often highly sought after both for their functionality and as a sign of wealth.

    Grafting

Grafting is the highly hazardous practice of acquiring, manipulating and using body parts from a living being, often aimed at transplanting them on a different being. Grafters are an unethical lot of creative surgeons who define themselves as 'flesh sculptors' and practice their illegal trade in secret, trying to overcome the limits of nature by merging and molding bodies as they deem fit.

    Metalworking

A metalworker is an individual who deals primarily in iron and steel as their metals of choice. The metalworker is not to be confused with the precious metalworker, who works with copper, silver, gold and other precious metals. In most cases, a metalworker presides over a forge, crafting items such as tools, cooking utensils and occasionally weapons and armor (although this is the least dominant use of the craft). While areas with heavy concentrations of metal ore mines often have the higher concentration of smiths, any community where metals are traded often boast a metalworker.
