Pam's Best Pies​

Tucked in a corner of New Pnyx is the city's oldest bakery. Pam's mother (also named Pam) was so revered and beloved in Medonia that even the city's elite refused to relocate the famous bakery (though some insist that the nobles wanted to keep Pam and her delicious pies for themselves). Pam even convinced the City Council to add an extra bridge just so her regulars could easily cross the Roland to visit her pie shop every morning. According to urban legend, Pam handily won her unanimous vote after she sent each council member just a slice of her impossibly delicious meat pies.

The bakery was shaped like a cottage with a curved roof and circular windows. Since it was a registered historic landmark, the city maintained the exterior and preserved every aspect of Pam's original structure. While the glass, paint, and other fixtures were newer, some things remained the same -- especially Pam's recipe for her best pies. The first thing visitors noticed as they approached the River Roland was the intense scent of savory crust that mingled with honey sweetness and crispy bacon and Pam's signature meat filling. Despite the long lines, patrons insist that merely being in the bakery's vicinity makes them think back fondly on happier days.

Pam has a daily selection of specialty meat pies ranging from the classic butter crust to the more elaborate (and more expensive) signature pies. Customers have the option to buy a piece or a whole pie. Each person is limited to one pie per brightening. That rule was implemented after Medonian officials discovered a gray market for Pam's Best Pies, which threatened to undermine the local economy and currency.
