A village located on the south central coast of the Confederation of Sherian.
Description
Serving largely as a center of trade, the small town of Hiems has never contained many more than a couple thousand people, though due to the nature of their village it is not unheard of for the population to fluctuate. The most alluring draw of Hiems are the remnants of the observatories of the ancient meteorologists and astronomers that still stand, though may not always be carefully used, to this day.
History
Hiems was originally founded in concert with the cities of
Vers,
Autumnus and
Aestas during the Second Empire by an astrological and meteorological society that was obsessed with having cities positioned in ideal locations for the study of the stars and weather patterns. The Second Empire had a habit of excessively colonizing newly acquired lands, and along with the other three “weather positioned cities”, Hiems was a product of one such colonization of the newly claimed Phondran Peninsula.
Culture
With heavy arcanic contamination to the north cutting off roads into the rest of
Sherian and
Medonia, their main source of trade, fallen in the war with the
Xet, Hiems is suffering for lack of coin and imports.
