BACKGROUND Like most of the Eastern clan of the illustrious Lylles family, Roscarnis was born and raised in the Chateau-Village of Lysandria, ancestral home to other characters such as a Archduke Antonius de Lylles and Threllius de Lylles, current titutar Prince of Lysandria. He is the middle child in a family of three siblings, Allectus, the elder and Romarius the younger. Born to a gem blooded family, he was the first in four generations to not have an affinity arcana, which would go on to have a rather huge impact on his childhood and self-esteem development. Known as a wild child in his younger Brightenings, Roscarnis was brought up entirely in Lysandria, and had rarely, if ever, ventured outside of Prime. He was home schooled, and thus received no formal education until he left for Arconis at the age of 18 to receive higher education, and while there had began to pick up many of his very expensive habits. He was also quite a notorious character at that age, somewhat of a trouble maker, having gotten himself into numerous amounts of trouble, but his antics were most likely hushed up and not made public due to his lineage. Is is believed that his rebellious streak came from being the middle-child, and the unfortunate one out of the three brothers who did not have the gift for Arcana. It just so happened that he was also born to parents who are respected Mages in the field. Roscarnis was bethrothed to his childhood sweet heart who also received her tutelage in Arconis while he was there, but the two called it off after they completed their formal education there due to unknown reasons. There were rumors of a miscarriage, or a possible third party; but whatever the cause was, only Roscarnis and the girl knew. This woman was known as Carilyn ap’Sael, a half elf sworn to the House of Maeve. He's never looked back since though, and had, for a period of time seemed contented to enjoy the lifestyle of an aristocrat, enjoying riding and hunting and other gentlemanly activities. He attended the College of Princely Affairs as was tradition for every male Lylles, where he mellowed down from his younger brightenings. As was his true nature however, Roscarnis began to grow increasing discontented with his life, and while both his brothers had left Lysandria to pursue their magical careers, Roscarnis found himself frustratingly stuck in a rut.
| ACCOMPLISHMENTS 1. Decentralization of the Interior Ministry Breaking tradition from his predecessors, Roscarnis separated the Interior Ministry held by the Lord Judicator from the Ministry of Justice. To allay the peace held by the public, he instead merged what was the Royal Advisory into the Interior Ministry, styling himself as the 'Royal Advisor to the Council of Crowns'. By decentralizing the two Ministries, he focused to make intelligence gathering much more of a priority, focusing on the then Sherian Affair. He also restructured much of the Ministry, as well as drafted up a Security Act, allowing the Ministry to act directly to neutralize threats without having to undergo bureaucratic red-tape, as well as allowing the Ministry to investigate any other Royal Ministries if and when required. 2. Operation Silent Warrior Operation Silent Warrior is likely the most extensive intelligence mission ever drafted by the Ministry of Interior. The plan proposes to reclaim the rouge province of Sherian back into the Kingdom, as well as long-term plans to neutralize and eliminate sympathizers to the Confederates' cause, eventually also ensuring that they would no longer be able to harness an ability to rebel again by sabotaging and stealing their existing technologies, as well as terminating key personnel involved in the rebellion. The Operation was a success, allowing the Ministry to acquire much of the enemies' technologies to be studied and replicated. 3. Reinstatement of Political Powers to the Nobility The pinnacle of Roscarnis de Lylles' political career came when he took on the appointment of the Proconsul, and his first act was to return political powers to the individual provinces by electing cultural leaders within their locale. Essentially, this was a move that had been anticipated by the Nobles since the rise of Emperor Valerian, who promised a roll-back of the Alyssan Civitate that stripped away the feudal rights of the Nobility. He elected them as Consuls, granting them the absolute power to elect provincial staff within their province, under the condition in which they would swear fealty to the Crown. It was his wish that such a move would allow the Nobility to regain faith in the central powers of Prime, as well as allow the former Intendant to focus on other pressing affairs of solidifying his Intendancy while distracting the Nobles. Part of his tactics involved placating the Church, as well as solidifying an alliance with his own familial clan -- the Lysandrian Lylles. Such a move seemed to be widely welcome by the Realm, since the L'Evienne Regency was known to be fiercely anti-noble. It was this singular move as well that plastered Roscarnis de Lylles' name into prominence, and brought a somewhat unknown character in politics into someone who became very briefly, an extremely powerful and popular man. 4. Governor, Principality of Prime Roscarnis bartered more good will using his influence as Governor ad interim, then Governor, of Prime. Across the realm, from the Sultanate of Arakmat to the Archprelate of the Church of Faith, he managed to gather support for Threllius de Lylles during the Succession Crisis. Despite having the crisis adverted due to the sudden ascension of Rhysatra, the Lylles had nonetheless managed to show an understanding that eluded those who held the Prime in thrall for decades by undoing the many faux pas created since the Fourth Empire. These include:

|
| Gold plated flintlock pistol (Broken) Tier: Legendary Roscarnis purchased a gold-plated flintlock pistol in a Jaedaxian market. It is not functional, and it will have to be remade for it to even become possible to shoot anything out of. The item is mostly for aesthetic purposes. He paid a hefty 9,000 crowns for it. It is very well crafted for what it's for. Why did he buy it, you ask? Because he can. | Flintlock pistol Tier: Rare On loan from Lord Burton Musgrave of Coldmoon, this weapon had been with the Lylles for eras, and had been well-kept despite its age. The Lylles was last seen with this weapon while serving as Governor ad interim of Prime, where he had been forced to use this weapon against Ancients threatening his being. The last person he had shot was @Éclair Mainesthai. |
Del Diana (Violin) Tier: Exotic 'Del Diana', crafted by the famous songster Talia Songbrooke, is one of the most prized musical instrument of all time, and of course, few were in the know that despite being one of the most celebrated bard in modern Aelyrian history, Talia Songbrooke was also a prized luthier. Crafted in commemoration of the Ancient Aelyrian's ascension as Queen of Aetheria, the namesake of the violin was highly appropriate given the recipient, and of course, the heavy research that he invested over the last few months also revealed more interesting insights of the particular piece -- crafted from the rare and expensive Whisperwood found exclusively in the Whisper Wood of Prime Province as well as Gemwood. Talent woodcrafters, such as Talia Songbrooke, were capable of creating pieces that allow to conserve the natural state of the wood, allowing it to 'whisper' along with the music played. The Gemwood body gave the violin a crystalline center that seem to glow and shimmer under the right lights and angles, and the strings were made of the gut of the Firestalker. When Talia Songbrooke first played on this particular piece, it was said that it was as if the Archonic Choir was present to sing praises and hymns along to celebrate Diana's ascension. His knowledge of the instrument was rudimentary, but whatever brief insights he had garnered had lend him the knowledge that the 'voice' of the violin depended on the type of wood used, the shape of the instrument and the varnish that had been used. The wood quality and varnish generally improve with age, making violins such as the 'Del Diana' highly sough-after. Such an excellent and very public reward does come with its own risks.
Elbereth ap'Sael de Lylles Created by Maddyn Daughter If there is but one person who can make Roscarnis attempt to move mountains, it is Elbereth. She is the illegitimate daughter of Roscarnis and his childhood lover, Carilyn. She manifested the abilities of a Khazer-Druei at a young age, being able to unravel material objects under periods of duress. At seven this era, Elbereth has shown to be quite stunted when it comes to academic development, and though every parent has high hopes and expectations for their own children, Roscarnis' only wish is that he had not inevitably condemned Elbereth to a curse because of his own inability to manifest magic. Elbereth speaks with a lisp and has shown to exhibit a mischievous streak just to grate on her father's nerves from time to time. Iscalio de Lylles NPC Father A man who never seemed to have much interest for family, Iscalio married into this gem-blooded Lylles branch because of his affinity for magics. He had mostly turned a blind-eye to his wife's philandering ways, nor seemed particularly interested in having a proper relationship with any of his three sons. The only one who he was the closest to would be Romarius, his only son that could still practice the gift of magic. He frequents the Academy of Magic in Prime where he spends most of his time on research related to arcana. Ilaria de Lylles Created by Jacob Mother Much of Roscarnis idiosyncrasies and his obsession for order came from his mother, who was the black sheep of the family before Roscarnis came to be. Having a habit for her philandering ways, Illaria has a penchant for younger men. The two are not close, with Roscarnis more or less having given up on his mother's predilections. Since young, he had been the one 'cleaning up' behind Ilaria, until he left Lysandria in an attempt to leave all the baggage behind at the first chance he could. Now the two can hardly speak to each other, or even stand each other's presence - eras of bitterness having wrung them apart from one another. Even if there once was a maternal bond between the two, now there was only a certain cool sense of detachment that was tragic to possess between them. Alianora Camille de Lylles Created by Maddyn Grandmother For the longest time, Alianora had been Roscarnis' only comfort that could be drawn from his family. She remains the firm Matriarch of their family despite her old age, and is a far more respected figure in the Lylles household than any of her descendants. Mother of Ilaria de Lylles, Alianora is the one of the few that Roscarnis could truly confide in without fear of judgement, though with the truth unveiled of the existence of Elbereth, it seems things may change for the worse. Roscarnis deeply respects his grandmother, who he feels is the only one who had not out-rightly condemned him for the inability to manifest magic; though he is intimately aware that there are decisions that she sometimes have to make on behalf of the family that may not always is agreed upon by the Lord de Lylles. Allectus Emilio de Lylles Ex-PC Elder brother The eldest of the brothers, he is the scion of the family and tasked to inherit all the family's fortunes one brightening, as well as to oversee the task of ensuring that all family members are wedded to gem-blooded lineages. Roscarnis had always been slightly estranged from Allectus due to the somewhat superiority complex that had been bestowed upon him since young, and for the longest time, had striven to out-do him to no avail. The two seemed irreconcilable, if not for Allectus' accident that caused him to be bound and stripped of magic. The two brothers now seem on the path of mending ties and relations, though looking at how far their relationship have fractured, it seems it will be some time before that could become a reality. Romarius de Lylles NPC Younger brother Romarius is sun to Roscarnis' moon. Formed by the a lineage of some mages, their powers crested in this young de Lylles, who was easily the proud and joy of their family since a young age. He is your typical arrogant noble, was told since young that he was to inherit the world. He has brown hair and blue eyes, a dashing creature who is both rash, dashing and charming at the same time. He was never close with Roscarnis, prefer to keep his company in those of other powerful mages within the eastern realms of the Empire. He is good-looking and cocky all at once, armed to the teeth with powerful arcanic abilities, giving him a rather volatile personality. Threllius de Lylles Created by Jacob Paterfamilias of the Eastern Lylles A childhood taunt from Roscarnis was the first transgression that turned from childhood pettiness into a strong dislike. Roscaris would rue the day Threllius was invested as paterfamilias of the Eastern Lylles, and Threllius the Younger had seemed intent on making Roscarnis his lackey. At his grandmother's behest, Roscarnis had deigned to play along with Threllius for now, what little choice he had. Larina de Lylles Created by Charybdis Cousin Larina is the closest thing to a rival in Lysandria. They both hailed from a relatively cadet branch of the Eastern Clan and had to work hard to claw their way up into Threllius' inner courts. Like Roscarnis, Larina was determined to make her mark outside of her name and regularly seek out the company of other powermongers within the realm. One of her many acquaintances is the Duke Parthas of Olympia. Roscarnis gets extremely petty when it comes to Larina, their childhood rivalry taking a more dangerous form as they got older. Ebramsom de Lylles Player Character Cousin Being estranged from his family, it is no wonder that Roscarnis had ventured outside his immediate familial zone to seek companionship. Ebramsom, the golden child of the Lylles, seemed an unlikely pick at first, simply because of Roscarnis' brooding nature. However, the two mesh well because of the relationship they share, with Roscarnis, for the first time in his life, being able to offer advice and play the role of the mentor where he was considered a dud in his own family. The two shares rather similar political views on merging the 'Old' and the 'Present', though Roscarnis may sometimes think the younger de Lylles somewhat naive in his ways, he still regards Ebramsom as a close confidant when it comes to personal affairs.
Roslynn Kaldres PC Ex-wife An arranged marriage concocted by Threllius to secure the Kaldres fortune in preparation of his Succession War against Arctic de Ioannes, Roscarnis and Roslynn were wed in the Pynx of Medonia. While they enjoyed the limelight for a time, rumors of infidelity began to spread and their marraige lasted last than an era. The couple annulled their wedding shortly before the Xet Invasion, and had not spoken to each other since. Evelyn Oroval PC Ex-paramour The dark noble lady drew upon the Lylles' darker predilections. They first met at Duke Davon Maeve's funeral, and the Lord de Lylles was instantly smitten by her bold, often borderline dangerous ways. She was the epitome of all the darker desires in life, that nihilistic, decadent lifestyle of a noble that he had to resist indulging in. It didn't help that she was a dark beauty, formed in every way a dazzling creature that could thrall the hardiest of men to fall from the pedestal for her. Diana de Lylles PC Ex-paramour It seemed almost unlikely at first when the two would begin their dalliance. The two had never met, one hailing from the Western House and the other from the Eastern Clan; yet there was a certain sense of attraction that had drawn Roscarnis to Diana, much like the quality that had drawn Carilyn to him. He was the mentor, the worldly scholar, while Diana drank up all the knowledge and lessons that he can offer. Diana possesses a sense of serenity that he admires, and after an official acknowledgement, the two made their first very public and official appearance together at the Arconis Art Festival. Alas duties broke them apart when Roscarnis was pledged to Roslynn to secure the Kaldres fortune for Threlllius' war, and the two drifted apart. One of Roscarnis' biggest regret was not being able to save her from the Black Fog, a regret he still thinks of till this day. Carilyn ap'Sael Created by Maddyn Ex-paramour Carilyn was Roscarnis' first love, and they were drawn instantaneously to their oddity within their family. Both had hailed from gem-blooded lineages yet shown no affinity for magic. Perhaps very briefly, they found solace which had eluded them for eras, and their relationship was passionate one moment, and then bitter the next, crashing from highs to tear-stained lows. A darkening of union unexpectedly brought them a child, linking them together for life, even if their feelings for each other soured eventually. Roscarnis looks at Carilyn and feels only crushing guilt -- the Elf having been afflicted with the Medonian pox and is scarred and blinded for life. However, at times, her bitterness and acidic nature leaves little to be desired, and their fights till this brightening remains as hurtful as before. She is the mother of Elbereth.
PART 1: Uneasy Alliances Roscarnis' political journey began when he first arrived in Aelyria Prime to propose a plan to the Regent-Prince Milo L'Evienne, where he drafted what was essentially a revamp of the current Judicatory system under the Royal Ministry. His presence within the Regia came as a surprise to many, since the then titular head of the Eastern de Lylles, whose stock Roscarnis had hailed from, had known to have repeatedly snubbed the L'Eviennes and their Royal Administration since the Regent's ascension. Nonetheless, this decision to step forward to take on high office came because of the Lord de Lylles' idea towards the merger of a Meritocratic system and a Aristocratic one, as well as to leave behind the shadow of Lysandria that continued to plague him after both his brothers had left the Chateaux to pursue their own aspirations. As part of the plan to disguise himself as what was essentially the appointment of the Lord Judicator, he was instead titled 'Royal Advisor to the Council of Crowns'. With the Maiestas to oversee any matters of intelligence collecting and processing, he essentially become the 'Man with the Information', and he made his job to 'know things' around the Realm. He drafted the 'Security Act' as well as decentralized the Intelligence Agency comprising of the Sel'Rakrya and the Ebon Watch from the Offices of the Minister of Justice and soon became a prominent character around the politics shrouding the First City. Roscarnis' first act was to review all personnel from the precious incarnation of the Intelligence Agency, where he would select a deputy to oversee the operations in Sherian. Understanding all too well that his strengths lay in the powers of administration and planning, he decided to look for a Deputy that could fulfil the operation portion of that is required of the Ministry. To this end, he selected the former Governor of Enamoria, Lord Archalen Andares; also a former Ebon Watch member to take on the task as his Deputy as Royal Counselor, was to oversee all operations in the Kingdom's reclamation of Sherian. Interim, the Lord de Lylles also elected the ambitious Lady Chrysannia Syl'lithar of Syl'rosya to oversee the Inquisition affairs in Lauryl and Arakmat, while also taking a gamble by absorbing the notorious Lord Serion D'Rinishad into the Ministry tasked in Eunesia. His main concept in doing so was that if the Lord D'Rinishad was employed by the Royal Government, then the organization would be able to keep tabs on the nefarious Elf Lord. In the end it was reconciled that it was better for a man like Serion to be working for the Royal Government, than against it. His last act before he would leave the Capitol to begin his provincial tours was to convince the surreptitious Nimavel Mynendil, a barbari elfin Lord to work as a solo agent for the Intelligence Agency. The Lord Mynendil would be designated as the agency's reactionary force that would be free to 'clean up' any operations that were conducted by the Ebon Watch, or to work alongside them as an ally. The Lord Mynendil would also aid in the training of operatives for the Royal Ministry when needed.
PART II: Return of the King During the return of the prodigal Aelyrian Monarch, Roscarnis was starting to sense that he was an outsider compared to the other high level officials within the Royal Government and tensions had started to surface. At first he believed the gap was likely due to the difference in upbringing - he being brought up with the perhaps fraudulent ideals of the 'Old Guard', while many of his peers were commoners, or low-leveled Nobles elevated to high politics office. Furthermore, unlike some, he did not seem to adversely believe that the return of the Ancient Aelyrians was necessarily a bad thing; rather, a shift in tactics was required. He understood how the monarch Constantine's return could pose problems and trouble for the current administration, but he also saw the possibilities and advantageous of it. Prior to Constantine's return, a secret summons into the mansion of the former Viceroy Tor Totalitat, one of Roscarnis' heroes, had summoned the nobility all over the realm for a private conference within his manor. There, Roscarnis was confronted with ill-news that suggests that the Ancient Aelyrians could have very well compromised the safety and well-being of the Prince, and that the former Viceroy, fortunately, possessed a device that could incapacitate the Children of Ioannes. He then went on to suggest the initiation of 'Operation Starmaiden' which required a militaristic takeover of all the strategic cities around the Kingdom. Roscarnis bore doubts about the validity of Tor's words, but said nothing that would otherwise offend or insult the senior statesman, understanding that there was more than meets the eye, and thus was deign to take the role of the observer and study the situation carefully. However, before the meeting could continue, it was interrupted prematurely by the appearance of the Lord Marshal, whose brusque behavior scandalised almost all of those gathered and an irate Tor Totalitat had called an end to the meeting that brightening after threatening the Lord Marshal to leave his residence. Shortly after that, the Lord Marshal was asked to resign from his position, and many believed that his intrusion onto the meeting had been his political downfall. Nonetheless, for the Lord de Lylles, he had come to the realization that those of the 'Old Guard' such as Tor Totalitat still held a potential sway in the affairs of the Realm, and clearly was able to enact a sinister web of contacts and procure information not known to the common man. His measured approached earned him recognition among his noble peers, as well as further thoughts and information for him to contemplate his next course of action with the information he received from Tor's manor as well as the first time he had his suspicion as to the possibility of a Royal conspiracy that was veiled from the prying eyes of the public. Shortly after the proceedings within Tor's Manor, in the aftermath of the Aelyrian Monarch's sudden appearance within the Forum which nearly turned into a riot, Roscarnis was whisked into the Regia Palace before adjourning to the Crimson Hall where they he was further allowed to interact with the Anthypat, Lady Calysta. It was there when he learned about the machination known as the Skyport, and through his curious questioning was finally able to come up with a reasonable hypothesis of the Ancients' return.
PART III: The Provincial Tours While his Deputy, Lord Archalen Andares proceeded with his mission in Sherian, the Lord de Lylles had began his provincial tours around the Realm, where he would be able to learn more about the special needs of the individual provinces so that the Intelligence Agency could cater for such unique requirements. More importantly, however, he understood that the whimsical appointments of local officials from the powers within the First City were fracturing the political strains bubbling from the lands, and that there existed a certain form of disgruntlement and accusation of the lack of cultural sensitivity in those appointments made. Some of the more memorable meetings included the an audience with the then-Governor of Lauryl -- Lord Malkaer Andares at the Bluestone Palace in Mystique, as well as a subsequent visit to the Lylles Palace of Lauryl with the reigning Matriarch, Countess Bridgette de Lylles. The two meetings highlighted the seeming strain between the scion of Andares and the Lauryllian-Lylles, as well as allowed the Lord de Lylles to form first impressions of the two reigning powers in Lauryl. There was also a particular meeting in Eunesia, where Roscarnis had a rather terse meeting with the Baron Straylor Leonard. The Governor was challenging Roscarnis' decision to place Lord D'Rinishad in Eunesia as a Royal Counselor, and despite the Royal Advisor's explanation, the Governor remained unconvinced. Nonetheless, the Governor was made light of the situation in Eunesia, and that he was to keep a close eye on Lord D'Rinishad, possibly offering asylum to personnel under the Ministry if the elfin Lord abuses or misappropriate his powers. His provincial tours were cut short midway as the situation in Sherian was rapidly deteriorating, and his presence was required in the First City to better coordinate the Ministry's efforts in the reclamation of Sherian.
PART IV: The Sherian Affair While Roscarnis conducted his provincial tours to set up his fledgling Ministry, all affairs of Sherian were being decided and arbitrated by his Deputy, Lord Archalen Andares. After receiving a highly disturbing missive from Sherian dictating the situation within the rouge province, Roscarnis quickly dispatched additional Ebon Watch teams, as well as to rope in Lord Nimavel Mynendil's service in Sherian under the guidance of Archalen Andares. From then on, the Lord de Lylles remained in Prime to centrally coordinate any resources or man power required in Sherian and had postponed the rest of his provincial tours. On the darkening of the sixth brightening in the second cycle of Optia, Roscarnis de Lylles was in his office when the Lord Mynendil returned to the First City to share the ill news of the death of his Deputy, and the strange circumstances surrounding it. Wary of a possible royal conspiracy, and also for the first time decidedly anxious that his own life within the Royal Court might be in jeopardy, Roscarnis summoned operatives from the Ebon Watch and Sel'rakrya, stationing them around to ensure that the supposed 'killer' did aboard the Royal Airship was to be apprehended. Despite Nimavel Mynendil's abilities, he was unable to locate the killer, though certain insights and information were shared that would continue to fuel the then Royal Advisor's paranoia of his status within the Royal Government. After the Sherian Affair, with his head filled with doubt and his morals and previous convictions being challenged, Roscarnis resumed his provincial tour; a sense that it was safer for him on the road than within the Royal Palace, his first stop was the Administrate of Centripax, where he offered condolences to the lost of Archalen Andres to his sister, the Lady Tiyribi Andares, Governor of Centripax.
PART V: The Rise of the Nobility Shortly after Roscarnis' return from Arium and the cryptic meeting with the Imperial Viceroy, Archduke Wessex de Evile IV, the Prince-Regent had perpetually 'upped-and-left'. The surprising turn of events left the central government in a fix, given the relative political instability that still persisted from the aftermath of the Sherian Rebellion. For a brief moment in time, Roscarnis and the then First Minister, Duke Alexis Sapienta attempted to maintain a façade of normality within the Kingdom, but when rumors began to spread about the possible disappearance of the the Prince-Regent, the First Minister, with hopes to preserve the L'Evienne dynasty, declared the Regent-Prince's younger brother, one Tristan L'Evienne, as the Intendant to the Kingdom. Seeing the general disgruntlement of the nobility during Tristan's investiture, Roscarnis decided to put forth the plan that he had originally intended to present to the Prince-Regent before his disappearance. A meeting with the new Intendant secured his petition to bring the respective nobility around the local provinces back into the political stage, granting them Consular powers to dictate all manners of responsibilities within the Province. Some appointments, such as the appointment of the Hierarch were strategic appointments in hope that the Intendancy of Tristan could persist, and his rule solidified. Roscarnis de Lylles was proclaimed the Proconsul to the Realm, and briefly became one of the most important politicians of the Kingdom. His first edict returned most of the powers to old cultural leaders, and heralded the beginning of a begrudging support to the Intendancy from vaunted seats of power such as the House of Maeve, the Sultanate of Arakmat and even the Imperial Houses of Lauryllian-Lylles. The Lord de Lylles did not stop there. He advised the Intendant to pick a bride from one of the noble families with dynastic claims to the Throne of Eternity, as well as arranged a meeting for the Intendant to meet and greet several of his Lysandrian cousins with the aim of establishing friendship in a gesture to show that the Intendant is far more favorable for a return of nobility back into the political arena than his predecessors. Roscarnis' tenure, however, was short-lived. Less than a cycle after being proclaimed the Proconsul, he was confronted with the proclamation of the Regency of the Triumvirs, consisting of the then First Minister, Duke Alexis Sapienta, the Lord Inquisitor, Lord Duncan Sythe and the Governor of Lauryl, Lord Malkaer Andares. Stating his refusal of support for the Regency in that it would simply throw the Kingdom into even more tumult, the Lord de Lylles relinquished his position within the Royal Government and returned to Lysandria, where he would begin to deal with the consequences of having alienated his family during the two eras where he was under the service of the Royal Government.
PART VI: Investiture of Threllius the Younger Archduke Antoinus de Lylles died shortly after Roscarnis' return to Lysandria and the investiture of Threllius the Younger made him the titular Prince of Lysandria, and paterfamilias of the Eastern Clan of the Lylles. That was when Roscaris' life took a turn for the worse. Threllius and Roscarnis had had a tensed childhood growing up together, and at an attempt to ensure any of his political ambitions could be preserved, had no choice but to do as Threllius accorded from there on. It came as a surprise then, when he was appointed Governor ad interim of Prime, but it had been a test from Threllius all along to gauge his loyalties. His last stint in the Royal Government had incurred much suspicion among the members of his vaunted family. Threllius also believed that by keeping Roscarnis in Prime, he would not be able to complete to work on his ground work on reconciliating the Western and Eastern Lylles, a prospect which may potentially hamper Threllius' future ambitions. Eager to prove his begrudging loyalty to Threllius the Younger, the Lysandrian dived deep into his new position to manage the affairs of settling the Ancient Aelyrians who had returned and set up home within the Capitolium. Appointing one Bladewyn Imaire and Vylle Fyrrialt as his deputies, they began a series of public initiatives known as the Restoration of Prime. Those works included the first draft of the accord for Ancients to live within Prime among their non-Ancients, the restoration of culture and arts as well as the massive repairs and renovations of the First City at a scale not seen before in living memories. It was then when he met many other adventurers such as Veleraen, Titan of Aslan, who warned him of the potential threat from the reemergence of Aslangard and the ancient order of the Church of Aslangard.
PART VII: Taking on the Triumvir During this period, it was clear that Threllius' ambitions were beginning to be made known, at least among the Lysandrian-Lylles. These ambitions were made public when the entire Eastern Lylles crossed-provinces to attend the funeral of Archduke Davon Maeve. The alliance of the two most powerful dynastic houses coming together in unity against the illegal Triumvir sent clear political shockwaves across the lands. Roscarnis, eager to win back the trust of his family, used the support he had built under the reign of Milo to secure the support across the Empire for Threllius' claim for the Throne. He also forced the hand of the then editor-in-chief of the Herald, Lord Angovin Maeve, to cede part of the control of the Herald to the Lylles, allowing the Lysandrian to pen a series of op-eds on the state of the Empire to continue to bring forth the Triumvir's duplicity to the public. These ripples that Threllius was creating and Roscarnis was aiding in also roused another old power awake. In Kaldira, once Crown Colony to the Empire, one Arctic de Ioannes, daughter of the Empress Fire Mysta and Emperor Constantine raised her standards and made her intentions for the Throne of Eternity known. The war of succession for the Fifth Empire has began.
PART VIII: The Succession Wars What had originally been a clear path of victory for Threllius took a turn when Arctic de Ioannes began consolidating her powers in Northumbria. While many prominent houses had declared for Threllius' claim from Roscarnis' influence, the fascination with the Priory Princess grew. There were many factions that saw her as the natural inheritor to the Throne. During this period, however, Roscarnis brought to the fold House D'Rinishad under their Lord Serion, the Saurid tribes under their leader Pescado Branch, and even the Archprelate of the Church of Faith, who granted aliares to the proclaimed Emperor Threllius. Understanding that war costed crowns, and to further ensure Roscarnis would not be a threat should he pursued his rumored dalliance with Diana de Lylles of the Western House, Threllius forced a marriage between Roscarnis and one Roslynn Kaldres, the then Thane of Port Alyxandrya to ensure the Lylles could count on the Kaldres' legendary fortunes if all out war would break out between the Houses of Ioannes and Lylles. Some of the political plays made by Roscarnis on behalf of House Lylles may have prevented an all out war, such as ensuring the continuous supply of grain would flow from Candaceburg to Lylles territories, even though the bread basket of the Empire was controlled by one Viceroy Nadina who had pledged for Empress Arctic. The Lylles focused his attacks on the unlawful Triumvir, which he called upon both Houses Lylles and Ioannes to unite and remove from power. It was during this period when an uneasy alliance was forged between the Lylles and the Houses Andares through the Governor of Centripax, House Kitrye'veresi and House Neydremi, a pact that in truth, neither knew what they were getting themselves into, or what that even meant.
PART IX: The Xetan Invasion A loveless marriage saw the Lylles continue to dive into his work back in Prime, before another disaster struck. The ancient Archxetan Empire, bitter rivals to the Aelyrian Empire found opportunity to strike after the death of Aelyria's patron Goddess, the Goddess Diana. While many frontier provinces, including Lauryl and Arakmat fell quickly, The Xet found themselves stopped at the battle of Centripax, and the swarm's advance had temporarily abated. Rather than choosing to buckle down in Prime and watch the rest of the Empire burn, Roscarnis used this small window of opportunity instead to enact a series of quick laws, including the drafting of Prime's private army to defend the Capitolium, as well as the training of any able-bodied men and women who wished to take up arms against the Xet to defend their homes. Several small guerrilla attacks on Prime were repelled because the citizenry had been ready to defend their homes, and morale remained high throughout that the Empire would be able to retaliate against their invaders. With the battle evolving into a stalemate, Roscarnis, together with this private citizen army marched towards Lauryl, establishing a massive army camp at Fort Pellwyn, ready to liberate Lauryl and Arakmat. Unknown to many, however, the Lysandrian's main goal was to launch a search and rescue mission into the Lylles Palace of Lauryl to locate his former paramour Diana de Lylles, whom he had never stopped loving. It was this love that drove the Lylles to march all the way from Prime, in hopes that they could find whatever remnants yet exist in Lauryl after the fog. Before he could follow through however, a strange malady struck Roscarnis at Fort Pellwyn, putting an abrupt halt to his would-be military career, and any ambitions to liberate the Western Lylles.
PART X: An Empress Crowned The mysterious and higher being intervention in the crowning of Empress Rhysatra saw the end of the Succession Wars abruptly. Threllius was appointed First Minister of the Empire while Arctic was appointed Imperial Marshal to push back the Xetan advance. Provincial lines were recut and newly established taking into account the destruction post Xetan invasion. Roscarnis himself was perplexed at what this meant for his political career; since never in his wildest dreams was he prepared for the outcome from the Succession Wars. Before he could contemplate what this new Fifth Empire meant for him, however, he was unceremoniously pushed out by Threllius from Prime to fix another growing problem within the Empire - the Church of Faith in the new province of Vesta. Diana's death, followed by the unveiling of Ovan's illicit activities were matters that the new Empire needed to be fixed. Roscarnis, however treated this move from Threllius as a personal exile from Prime, perhaps for punishment at his attempt to locate the Western Lylles during the Xet invasion. The eras of effort he had built to establish a reputable powerbase within the Principality and citizenry were utterly useless where his new assignment had brought him.
PART XI: Vexing Vesta The Lylles appeared to have lost his drive that had pushed him to the very peaks of political powers during the Succession Wars when he relocated to Vesta. He had shut off all contact with the former powermongers of the Empire, and faded from prominence. Part of this came from the hope that if he had laid low, Threllius may yet allow his return to Prime and Lysandria one brightening. Another part was the desire to guarantee the safety of his bastard daughter Elbereth de Lylles who resides in Lysandria. The girl was once hostage to the Maeve and lately returned to the Lylles by his own machinations. For the next two eras, however, he shirked his duties, perhaps out of spite for Threllius. He waged his own cold wars against the once supporter of a Lylles Emperor, one Archprelate Ovan Hastra, blocking every attempt to consolidate powers for his corrupt Council of Prelates. While he appeared to be enjoying his retirement from politics, in truth he had been gathering intelligence on Church corrupt activities since Ovan's appointment under the reign of Prince-Regent, further souring his opinion of the likes of the L'Evienne dynasty and their ilk.
