[Phondra] Operation Trojan Horse (Fish Stick)

5th Cycle of Aperitus, Era XVII PF
He was entering the hornet's nest....The enemy's camp. It was not going to be easy. The Titan had ventured from Narim to Prime and then back down into the Sherian towards Phondra. He was now almost upon it and he was so very close to taking his man and returning to the Prince with another prize. This had been something the Giant had been wanting to do for a long time; clean up this fething province with his own two hands.

Dressed in armour and armed, Veleraen's movement phased, screened by time itself as he walked up to the path towards the village. It would not be far now. It was almost dusk and he would need the concealment of the darkening if he wanted to pull this off.

Veleraen approached the gates, harmlessly, not aggressive in the hopes that he could talk his way past to gain entry to the city.

Approaching the sentries, Veleraen raised a hand in a peaceful motion, hoping that his features or his name had not reached these lands yet. Hakan was circling up high, looking, waiting and watching for any signs of trouble, able to report back to him telepathically with his thoughts.

"Serale. My name is Veleraen, son of Khreytek, I have urgent news for the Lord Thane, Vincent Weatherbee. It is imperative I speak with him. It is from Taralon." It was a risk but he needed to take it to get inside. He only hoped that this darkening did not lead to much bloodshed. The one man, Vincent Weatherbee was wanted by the Kingdom and Veleraen was going to get his man, whether or not he had to liberate this village from the grips of the Sherian Confederacy himself.

As Velerean entered the village, he would notice two things. First was everything was dead, plants, animals, nothing had survived the shockwave that he and Duncan Sythe had created. The grass under his feet was black, and the cows in the field were laying on their sides, their flesh decaying and some of them on fire as the few surviving people were burning them. Nothing had started to grow back, even thought it had been a few seasons, and the animals were still dying, unable to survive the shockwave as it had made their offspring grow mutated and dying earlier than they should have.

A sentry that saw the titan approached him, and said, "What might your business be in Phondra." As Velerean answered, he looked up startled a bit, and then said, "Finally, word from Taralon... they've left us hanging for quite some time now, after the shockwave... we haven't heard anything, as to whether the royals had advanced that far yet or not... last we heard was that Vers was liberated by a small group of royals... As you can see, the shockwave has killed most of us here... We might as well defect to the royal side right now, as if they tried to mount a full scale assault, we wouldn't be in any shape to defend ourselves again..."

Sighing a bit, the sentry said, "My name is Eric, i'll take you to Vincent, and hopefully you bring good news..." As he spoke, a tear flowed down his cheek as he probably knew that Velerean's news from Taralon wasn't good, or even anything close to it. This war had torn at his heart, and he had lost a great deal of friends due to the shockwave, barely surviving himself.

Leading him to a small house on the outskirts of the town, he knocked upon the door. A man opened it, and poked his head out. "What is it Eric?" he asked, and looked up to see the titan. "We have news from Taralon sir, if you'll step outside as i doubt our giant friend here could fit into the house..." said Eric. Vincent Weatherbee then did step outside and looked towards Velerean. "Well, what did you want sir?" he asked, very politely and nonchalantly...

Veleraen hadn't realized how far the devastation of the arcanic wave until he had laid his eyes upon the outskirts of Phondra. Animals...Livestock...Even more people had all been zombified and died. It seemed that all the scars he had wrought upon himself had not been enough after all.

With the prospect of 'news', the guard, Eric, seemed depressed and so did the status of the town. Already thinking of defecting, Veleraen nodded and let him lead him to the Thane. He didn't dare say anything that would give him and his motives away, so Veleraen let the man talk as they walked to the outskirts of the village.

They soon happened upon a simple home, a home that Veleraen hadn't expected a Thane to live in but it would do.

As soon as they came to the door, Veleraen took a heavy swallow as the time was almost upon them. It was almost time to take his prized possession back to his Prince.

"Your Grace." Veleraen gave the slight bow of the head, acknowledging the title, giving the man at least some respect before he shackled him up in chains.

"I have news for you but for your ears only. If you would not mind soldier..." Veleraen looked to Eric to give them some privacy. As soon as the man was out of sight and out of earshot, Veleraen sighed, took a closer step towards Weatherbee and looked out beyond the outskirts they were at into the foothills of Sherian that surrounded them. He didn't like doing this but it had been something that had been started by the Sherianites and now he was here to help finish it.

"I am sorry your Thaneship but I do not bring good news..." Veleraen reached out and grabbed the man with a golden hand. If he resisted, the Giant was not against using more force but he didn't want to hurt him. "You are under arrest for conspiracy against the public safety and order, conspiracy against the State, insurrection, rebellion against the Throne, and High Treason as per the order of Prince Milo L'Evienne. You are now my prisoner. Do not resist and I will not hurt, you, is this understood?" Veleraen attempted to spin the man around and pulled out a pair of shackles, shackling his hands together behind his back.

Hakan kept a watchful eye as he circled the area, making sure no one was looking at them. Veleraen was almost home free, he just needed to walk away into the brush and he would be gone....Back to Milo and back to a better way of life.

A bounty hunter's life his was not but it was necessary to keep order and send a message that no one was above treason.

As Velerean began to speak of the not so good news, Vincent's eyes grew wider. By this time Eric had gotten pretty far away from the pair, but suddenly a shrill scream resounded through the air when Velerean began to shackle Vincent. "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!" he cried out. Eric quickly turned tail and ran back towards where Velerean and Vincent were. Upon arriving as he really hadn't been too far away, he could already see Vincent kicking and screaming in his shackles and Velerean starting to cart him away.

"What the feth are you doing?!" cried Eric, his eyes growing wider as he saw what Veleran had done...

They always tended to scream, especially when they realized that the past and its truths were about to devour them whole. As Veleraen shackled him and started to cart him away, the man started to scream and the Titan sighed, realizing that this would be likely to attract more attention than he wanted.

Reaching into his pouch, he pulled out a rag and tied it around the man's face to try and stifle the screams but it seemed that it had been too late. Eric, the loyal guard and protector of Phondra had returned and was beginning to see what was actually happening.

Veleraen kept walking and turned his head back to look at the man as he kept hold of Weatherbee, making a bee line for the wilderness.

"Do not follow soldier! Take chase and you will find yourself pleading your case before the Celestial Throne of the All Father." Veleraen shouted back at Eric as he kept walking. If the soldier decided it was in his best interest to chase the Titan, Veleraen would have no choice but to defend himself but the human man would have to keep pace first. The Giant had endurance beyond that of any mere mortal. He could run for miles with his armour and weapons, his training and conditioning able to take him further upon the land and making him able to last longer in battle. Most men tired after half a candlemark of battle but the Titan could fight for a brightening or two if need be. He would fight to take the traitor back to Prime and anyone crazy enough to chase a fifteen foot armour Giant down alone deserved the fate handed to them.

Hopefully Veleraen would not have to show the man the consequences of making such a mistake.

As Velerean stiffled the mouth of Weatherbee, he stopped screaming, realizing it would be useless in this instance. Eric stood there wide mouthed as he watched the events unfold, and did nothing as he could not stop a fifteen foot armored giant no matter what he would try. In desperation, he took out a crossbow, and fired a bolt at the giant, but missed as the giant was too fast, and to far ahead already. Eric went back to report what had happened to his superior, but then realized he had none as he usually reported to weatherbee. Velerean had made a very decent attempt at taking a bounty, and managed it with much efficiency. Weatherbee was caught, and that's all there was to it, Velerean had a clear path back to the Kingdom, and Milo whom awaited him with his prize, one Vincent Weatherbee.
