Only Coming Through in Waves
OOC Note: This post, which appeared in the Herald, and which I'd originally written back in the day, is something I managed to dredge up off the Internet. It doesn't have an Era timestamp, but it was originally posted in March 2005.
In a brief written statement issued from her office in the Medonian Parthenon of Diana today, the 15th brightening of Cryxatum, Archbishop Samantha Lien announced that she is placing the full weight of her office behind the College of Prelates in their recent controversial decision to excommunicate Archprelatess Aerienne Sarista.
"Given the former Archprelatess's recent actions, not only in the Cazellia affair, but in her utter neglect for the suffering masses of the Church's members in this dire hour of Empire-wide need, we have no choice but to conclude with the College that the gods are no longer with her," Archbishop Lien's statement read. "We hereby formally withdraw all affiliation with her and place our full support and confidence in Archprelatei Marsala and the remainder of the college. May Ioannes and Diana bless them in their continued efforts."
The Archbishop added, "Members of the Church in Medonia should be assured that we are following the will of the gods in this matter."
Archbishop Lien could not immediately be reached for additional comments. However, the fact that at least one local leader has expressed support for the College indicates that the schism in the Church will not be as easily patched over as some optimists had hoped.
