Let's Talk about Kevin

In the largest, most congested part of Aslangrad, a chase is happening between a dorin, wounded and bruised all over his body, and a human boy, a thirteen year old looking kid. They'd run through alleyways and bump into people passing by. The dorin would push away those that stands in it way while the kid would calmly keep up with the chase.

Finally, after causing much trouble to the people of the 5th Prihod the two would stop and face each other.

"If you don't stop.. I'd have no choice but kill you, little one." The dorin would say while breathing heavily.

"Go on. Come and Get me." Panting as well, the boy would smile and wink at the furry man.

The two would reverse the chase, the boy would then be chased by the dorin. Both of them are agile.

They'd go run into alleyways and would bump into people and things and finally arrive in a dead end where no one is around. The dorin can do anything to the kid and no one would really notice. The boy would look shaken by the fact that he's got no where to run to while the dorin would be like a mad man ready to kill the little one.

---

Rickith probably saw the two chasing each other in the streets and followed them or just happened to be somewhere near. The two will probably killing each other if you don't stop the two of them.

Rickith did indeed see the dorin chasing the young boy. As a guard of the city, he certainly had to do something about it. Making his way through the streets after them, as quickly as possible, with his spear in his hand, looking towards each of them through pale hued green eyes, his body donning the grey uniform of the guards of Aslangrad. Once he found the dorin cornering the boy, he called out, "Stop what you are doing now!" He was intent on finding out just exactly why the dorin happened to be chasing the young boy, and visa versa.

"What is going on here?!" he demanded an answer from either of the two of them his spear in a high guard stance, tip pointed downwards, and butt of it in the air, ready to defend himself if necessary, against the dorin more than likely not against the kid. If the dorin insisted on trying to kill the kid and/or Rickith, he'd have no other option than to put him down like the dog that he happened to be...

"Do not interfere!" The dorin can speak the common language really well unlike other dorins. The dorin would pull a string from the nearby wall then heavy bars would come down and separate Rickith from the two.

"You sure are brave to face me alone." The boy would smile confidently despite the situation.

"There's no escape." The dorin would prepare to launch an attack with a sabre in his right hand but before he could come close to the kid, tall spikes would rise up the ground. Luckily the dorin was able to control himself and evade most of it but got pierced by his leg. The dorin would shout in pain.

"Gotcha. I'll go catch you some other time though." The kid would smile at the dorin and at Rickith.

"I'll go catch you another time though." The kid would uncover a hole in the wall behind him, and escape through it.

It might be difficult to remove the bars but if Rickith would look around there seems to be a rope nearby that he could possibly pull to raise the bars.

---

The little kid could not have gone far and if Rickith decides soon to chase after the kid through a different path he'd probably be able to catch the little one. The dorin would bleed to death though if he doesn't help soon enough.

If Rickith chooses to help the dorin, Rickith might be able to save his life. It would be near impossible to track the fast little boy though.

Pulling on the rope as hard as he could, the youthful mestlan would try to open the gate as quickly as possible in order to get to the Dorin and the young boy. Upon seeing the boy escape though, he focused upon what he could focus upon, that being, the injured Dorin from one of the traps the boy had apparently set up. They were both interesting gadgets, the sliding wall, and the floor of spikes. Rickith thought about them as he got over to the dorin finally, and aimed his spear at him, but not striking him yet. "Why were you chasing the boy? Speak quickly, and I'll get you to the hospital where they can take care of your wounds. Refuse to answer me, and you'll have another gash, quite possibly a mortal wound..." he stated, in all seriousness.

He didn't much care for Dorin, but he needed answers now, and his promise to see the dorin healed, was much more than he'd normally give anyone in this circumstance. Normally he'd just haul them off to the Gaol, injured or not, and take care of their injuries there, rather than get them proper medical attention...

"Murder, Arson, Theft.. That kid is a monster." The dorin would say with his face in pain.

"I hunt monsters and I've been hunting that kid for a while now." He'd look at Rickith's eyes.

"I thought I disarmed all of his deadly traps in the city, never thought he'd place one here."

"A young boy is responsible for all of these traps?" asked Rickith incredulously. He wasn't sure he believed the dorin at first, but it was obvious the kid was a menace if he was killing people in the city. Surprised the city guard hadn't heard of him yet. Anyways, he had better get the dorin to the hospital so that he didn't bleed out all over the place. Tearing off a piece of cloth from his shoulder, he would wrap the wound on the dorin's leg up to help stop the bleeding, and then would hold one arm over his shoulder, his spear in his holster on his back, and help the dorin to walk to the hospital where hopefully they would manage to nurse him back to decent health, and Rickith could get down to the bottom of these traps the boy was creating all over the city...

"Not young really, that little man may look young but in the investigations I had in Carmelyn, he is actually almost 40." He told Rickith as they make their way to the hospital.

Turns out the dorin's a talkative man and ended talking about himself as they walk to the hospital.
His name is Grey Mordrey, 21 ordinations, a hunter from Arkdun. The one who is chasing him and he is chasing is Kevin, Grey doesn't know much about Kevin but he does know that like him, he makes traps.
After getting healed at the hospital, the healer informed Grey and Rickith that the furry man is not allowed to go running for a cycle or two. Bad news as he can't go chasing after Kevin.

"Fourty eras?! Really?!" asked Rickith as he looked towards the dorin. He could hardly believe it, this man named Kevin was actually a fourty era old man, in a boy's body. How does one retain their youth for that long? he thought. Once he found out more about the dorin, and then learned that he couldn't go chasing after the boy for a cycle or two, Rickith looked towards him, and then asked, "Do you think you might be able to teach me about the creation of traps?"

A valid question, and since the dorin couldn't go running after the man, Rickith figured it might as well be worth it to learn something from him, rather than allowing him to further hurt himself by trying to chase after the man-boy...

"Well.. I wouldn't be able to go after Kevin for a while. I guess teaching you may benefit me as well." Grey would look at Rickith and close his eyes, he'd pause for a short while before getting up to get something from his bag.

"It would help catch Kevin if I have an assistant in trap making anyway.. Take this." Grey would hand a parchment folded in three to Rickith. "Make one this darkening and I'll know if you are suitable."

If Rickith opens the parchment, he'd see an illustration of a basic mouse trap. The demonstration would demonstrate the function of the mouse trap clearly but the down side is, there are no measurements, nor instructions in it on how to make the mouse trap.

It is up to the gadgeteer to find out how it works.

"I'll meet you at my workshop tomorrow. Look for my house in the 5th Prihod, near the place where you saved me." The dorin would prepare his stuff and leave the room.

"I almost forgot, you already know my name. To whom do I owe my life?" The dorin would ask and as soon as Rickith answers, the dorin would bow and leave.

---

You have the whole darkening to make a mouse trap. You already know where to find the materials

"My name is Rickith," he said, and then nodded to the dorin. "I'll see you tomorrow..." And with that, he went on his way to start making a mouse trap. Heading to the local carpenters, he got a piece of wood that would serve as the base. He already had the screws and spring needed for it in his gadgeteering kit. Making his way to the Oven then, he'd get some metal pieces of wiring needed for the jaw, and the holding bar. He also got a much smaller flat square piece of metal that would serve as the catch.

Then he'd start connecting them all together back at his room. Connecting the spring to the board, in the center of it, and then the jaw to the spring, he'd connect the catch to the holding bar. Finally he'd pull the jaw back, and hook the holding bar over it. Holding the jaw in place. Then he'd test it by holding the jaw back and releasing the holding bar, then allowing the jaw to snap down on the opposing side as it was supposed to. Simple enough, he thought.

The following brightening, Rickith would make his way to the dorin's house with the mouse trap, and would knock on the door...

"Have-a-safe-landing." Rickith would hear what seems like a little girl's voice then suddenly the floor he is standing on would open and he'd fall down the solid stone ground. It is not that high but wrong landing would hurt.

If he would look around, Rickith would find himself in some sort of workshop then he'd be greeted by the dorin, "Serale, haf you finished your homework?"

"Oh fet-" he'd call out as he fell through the newly opened flooring, right down into the Dorin's workshop. Landing on his feet, his knees bending as he landed, he ended up falling backwards onto his bum as he looked up and saw the Dorin. Slowly getting up, he rubbed his lower back a bit, and then looked towards the Dorin, a slightly embarrassed grin upon his face. In one hand, still was the mouse trap he had created. Lifting it up, and showing it to the dorin, he'd state, "It only took me a little while to figure out how to create one, but here it is..."

He'd then await the dorin to examine it in order to figure out if it indeed was a good mouse trap or not...

"Here's a carrot." Grey would take out a carrot out of nowhere, perhaps he had it all along.

"You'll know when it is good enough." While the mouse trap is still on Rickith's hand, the dorin would use the carrot to trigger the trap. The carrot snapped into two and the mouse trap flew and hit Rickith's face.

"Haha, impressive work my friend." Grey would take a bite of the other half of the carrot he is still holding.

"As a fellow gadgeteer, would you impress me with a few of your own inventions."

"Ouch, what the feth was that about?!" stammered Rickith as the mouse trap hit him in the face. Then the dorin asked him about showing him a few of his own inventions. "Sure, lead the way out of here, and i'll take you back to my room at the Grub Bag Inn so that I can show you some of the things i've been working on..." If the dorin did indeed lead him out of the dank and darkened place, Rickith would lead him back to the Grub Bag Inn.

Once there, he'd open the door to his room, and immediately the dorin would see a metal contraption leaning up against the wall. It had a metal frame, with two wheels on it, pedals on either side, and some gears attached to the inside of the frame. Pointing to it, he looked at the dorin, and said, "That is an invention I called the bicycle. It's a mode of transportation... and requires less maintenance than a horse does."

The dorin shook his head and did not agree to follow Rickith out.

"Tsk.tsk.tsk. Das Bad Habit, friend." Grey would comb fur at the back of his head.

"True, the actual thing is important. But what matters more to us are plans." The dorin would hand Rickith a journal with a black leather cover. If he opens it, he'll find that this one is blank.

Grey would take out another one and show it to Rickith.

"Here's mine. All the plans I have ever made are here." Grey would not actually hand it but he'd show Rickith some pages with drawings and computations and instructions.

"Ideas are what drive us to create these things. That journal you are holding is where you should keep yours."

OOC: You can take it or give it back

"You're right, I should keep my plans in a journal..." he stated. "I have my father's old journal full of plans back in my room at the grub bag inn, at least, I think it was his, or mine, not sure which as it was prior to my amnesia... but it has some drawings within it. I should just start a new one though."

Smiling, he took the journal from the dorin, and then flipped it open to the first blank page. "Would you like me to draw you some of the things i've invented thus far? Show you my ideas?" he asked the dorin then, eyes looking towards him with curiosity to see what exactly the dorin would say about Rickith's plan to draw him some of his current inventions...

"That'd be the way to go!" Grey would encourage Rickith to draw his inventions.

"Take some time, use the table.." Grey would point at the table with lots of papers on top of it.

"I'll prepare my things as well." The dorin would then leave Rickith to drawing and set up the things he needed to teach Rickith how to make the best traps.

And so, as the dorin began to get his supplies ready to teach Rickith the basics of trapping, Rickith went to work on his new gadgeteering invention journal. First he'd draw out the drawing of the manual Whisk prototype that he had designed, and crafted, his very first invention that he could actually remember crafting after his amnesia. Then he would draw out the telescopic branch trimmer prototype, that could extend from about five feet out to fifteen feet in length, snapping each segment into place as it extended outwards, and buttons to press to unlengthen it, and bring it back down to it's normal size.

Next, he'd draw out the windmill that he had helped design, and built with the help of various carpenters and masons. Finally he'd draw out the bicycle that he had created, a work of innovation that could potentially revolutionize transportation by replacing horses if he somehow managed to create more than just one of them. Aside from the mouse trap, those had been the main inventions he had worked upon, and created. Finally he'd add the drawing of the mousetrap into the journal, before turning back to the dorin, and grinning, stating, "Here you go, if you want to take a look. These are the inventions I've created thus far, basic sketchings of them..."

Smiling, he'd then await to see if the dorin would start his instructions on traps, and the variety of ones he could potentially create via the gadgeteering methods that the dorin perhaps happened to know of personally...

Grey would look and inspect with great interest upon Rickith's works. "Impressive. I'd like to talk about these inventions of yours later."

"For now, let us begin with trap making."
All the things were arranged in the table in front of Rickith. A deconstructed bear trap, some tools, some ropes, and other things.

"First, what traps are you familiar of? Other than the mousetrap of course."

Rickith Lanza

"To be honest, i'm not really familiar with any traps other than the mousetrap which you just had me build last darkening," said Rickith as he looked towards the dorin. "Though i'm sure if I was given schematics, or thought up and idea on my own, i'd certainly be able to execute it. Learning about the various types of traps though from someone more experienced and practical would be a better way of going about things for myself though..."

Perusing the supplies the dorin had brought over then, Rickith would look from each of the items, and then back up towards the dorin. "What shall we begin on? What exactly does that one do?" he then asked, pointing towards the bear trap that was sitting on the table...
