Name: Eyvind Björnsson of Clan Avornmagor Aliases: The Redbeard Race: Human, Vagaran of the Gothir Tribe Age: 37 Ordinations, born on the 2nd of Ioannes of Era 10195 Place of Birth: Gonehameau, Libertas Peninsula, Northumbria Current Residence: Wanderer
Physical Description: Eyvind is a Vagaran and possesses many features common to such ancient and mighty lineage such as light skin and blue eyes so light in colour as to be mistaken for ice. Tall to the point of towering he stands at 7 feet in height. His is a muscled body, toned from years serving in the Imperial Legions and the decade he was coerced into forced labour in the salt mines on the Penal Colony of Terramarique. Scars dot most of his body, notably a wolf's claw on his left shoulder as a misfortune in his youth. His hands are a remarkable feature of his, being proportionally large as the man himself and turn into hammering fists whenever he tenses up. His hair, once red as the scales of a Fire Drake, have since dulled out to grey with nothing but shades of their former glory due to the hardships he has endured during his imprisonment. His beard, covering his jaw and extending in a mustache over his upper lip has fallen prey of the same discolouration, but it still turns red occasionally with the blood of his enemies.
Suffering some unpredictable change to the imbuement affecting his mind Eyvind finds himself with renewed purpose but still locked up doing hard labour in the salt mines of the Penal Colony in Terramarique. Unbeknownst to him a mighty storm had different plans and would cast him off the island prison and into the shores of northern Arium, near the ruins of thrice destroyed Paxia, where he would re-encounter his trusted warhorse Arthalof, probably kept in the stables of the Falcon Citadel after Eyvind himself was apprehended there over a decade prior.
With renewed purpose and seeking an explanation for what had befallen him and his beloved Empire he rode south where he stumbled upon an attempt at marching into Sherian and liberating the province. Leading the group was his good friend and former brother in arms Gye'ron Val Oriden and both enjoyed a night of conversation before setting out. Seeking to find his daughter Rainn, Eyvind joined up with the group, but upon finding their path blocked the party decided to slip and try alternative routes, but not before being ambushed by Jade Alanon trying to avenge a scar the Vagaran had once branded her with. Eyvind would join up with Z'Kron Kha'Sherith as both tried to enter Sherian by using a fishing boat from the nearby village of Phondra, right under the watchful eye of the new Third Legion. This plan seems to have taken a wild turn...
Returning from Sherian, Eyvind rode to Port Alyxandrya to try to rally the Sherianites living there as well as his once loyal Black Shields into joining him in reclaiming Sherian from the forces controlling it. He spent a night in the Salty Cog&Gear Sea Dragon where he met a rogue by the name Talindra Koranthil. The following night he entered the serale and was greeted by the Sherianites and veteran Legionnaires of the old Tenth Legion with bitter words.
Returning east from his Enamorian surveys Eyvind stumbled across a burning Candaceburg and joined with a ragtag band of farmers in an attempt to reclaim the city from the invading Ratta and the Dark Dwarves fighting over the burning community. Hearing that Aelyria Prime had just been shook to its foundations by massive explosions under the Imperial Palace and the Academy of Magic he immediately rode to the capital to search the rubble, only to find gapping holes with green flames which he proceeded to explore, but as a wave of Cyraxians broke out of the ground and severely injured him, ripping off his left leg below the knee, he had to retreat.
Being lost at what to do with the disappearance of Empress Rhysatra he rode directly to Lysandria to offer his services to Prince Threllius de Lylles, First Minister of the Empire, whereupon he discovered the man was gone in some military errand before being apprehended. In prison he received treatment to his leg wound and a pegleg to assist him in walking again. Dissuaded from surrendering his life to summary execution he conducted a daring escape attempt which left him grieviously wounded, but saw him recover his red sword, Naurhatol the Fire Tongue, the Red Sword of Redbeard.
Returning West he accompanied the refugees from Candanceburg and the surrounding fields to Portshire where he joined forces with some old companions and the locals militia in thwarting yet another Ratta incursion. During the battle he met is friend Gye'ron once more, as well as the Elf maiden Talindra and a few others, such as the giant Veleraen and Keldon Elsdragon, the former Royal Marshall. Distinguishing himself during the near catastrophic confrontation due to his destructive cavalry charges Eyvind managed to slay one of the leading Ratta badger riders and rescue General Costa of the Sapphire Guard earning fame for his nom de guerre, Redbeard. Following the battle he visited the healer Sepharvaim to receive some much needed treatment for a wound that was affecting his vision. Decided to promote safety in Portshire and beyond while earning some coin Redbeard decided to found the Gentleman's Free Company of Portshire, a mercenary band of four counting himself, Rellick Steelbender, Renatus Vesanus and fellow Sherianite in exile Rimia Summernight, all three whom he sent down the sewers of Portshire to find out if there were any Ratta survivors. Decided on not letting another catastrophe befall Portshire or the rest of the Principality of Prime he joined with Gye'ron in convincing Thane Holland of Portshire to arrest the deserting nobles who had ordered the city gates shut before the battle a few Brightenings prior and to invest in improved defences to the city. With a strange parade of personalities in tow which counted among them the giant Veleraen, Keldon Elsdragon, Z'kron the Failed Prophet and Jade Alanon the situation escalated quickly with Gye'ron attempting to assassinate the Thane and Eyvind suffering a seizure that incapacitated him and destroyed all possibilities for civil dialogue.
Tired and injured from all the battles of the previous two months Eyvind found himself in the Festival of Dragons in Demios, but his vacation didn't go as planned as a champion of Ainlar attacked the town and many amongst its populous were slain by the careless use of Arcana by some of the defender. Lost and confused Eyvind travelled to Aelyria Prime to meet an old friend and find answers.
Autumn
After delivering a letter to the Alyssan Guard at Midpoint he continued searching for more of his former followers Eyvind found himself in a strange market in the remote Eunesian island of Secyclion.
Winter
Spending most of Winter in Port Alyxandrya to recover from all the injuries from the past Era, Eyvind found himself blessed by some mighty gifts from an unknown benefactor during Primehiems.

There are no changes to Eyvind’s religious beliefs in Aslan, Materna, etc.
If Eyvind is to participate in anything unpatriotic / against the Crown, a complex enchantment within his brain will detonate, frying his brain and effectively ending his life. This enchantment is integrated into PC’s brain and removing it would have similar effects.
Eyvind has received a "Mark of Barbarism" upon his soul. Placing him in touch with his Vagaran roots, Eyvind can discard his civilized whims and seek out the lust of battle and will always be able to gain the initiative in combat when matched against a foe of equal or lesser skill. However, when confronted by a foe who has greater skill in a discipline that Eyvind does not, he loses civilized composure and can be overcome by fear and will lose any initiative and be placed on the defensive.

The Hero Avornmagor and his descendants
Some say he was the son of some demi-god with a mortal, others say he was blessed by the whole Aetherian Pantheon, those who really knew him knew what he was, a man. Opinions change according to who you speak with. The only thing all agree is that he was a Hero. Considered as one of the last Vagaran Heroes, Avornmagor Fafnirson was a charismatic man who stood tall among the great men of his time. Friend of Antediluvian and companion to him since their childhood, Avornmagor was always the man who stepped forward to carry out the most dangerous tasks.
Born in Arkdun and raised in the wilds Fafnirsson grew strong of both body and spirit. Forged in the heat of battle he fought countless enemies without faltering and hunted many mythical monsters without shivering. Trolls learnt how to fear his blade and giant sea serpents moved away from his Longship’s path. Many a tale were written and told of how he slaughtered a Giants’ tribe, the Troll King of the Great Mountains of Arium, how he tamed the mighty steed Gorthalof and how he hunted down the giant wolf Hafgrim. There is only one adventure the tales tell nothing of, because no one except Avornmagor himself returned from it and nothing did he tell of it. Some called him coward most paid with their lives. The only tale no one knows is that of Avornmagor’s journey to Ancient Vagaria in the far North.
All is known of this journey is that Fafnirsson departed from Arkdun in his Longship taking along with him his Black Shields, his twenty best men, the envy of many a Jarl. Proudly they set sail north. Eras passed without news from them and when all thought the great hero Avornmagor had perished in his quest to return to the ancestral home of the Vagaran a ship was spotted in the horizon. Aboard was a single man, almost naked, with his clothes completely ripped and ruined. The ship itself resembled a ghost with it white sail shredded and moving slowly whatever wing blew it. When the ship reached the coast many villagers of the region were waiting to see who came on it, standing in the prow. As soon as the ship it the sand of the beach the man inside it jumped to the ground and ran to the nearest man, who was carrying a torch since the light of the Suns was already fading. Scaring the crowd that had been waiting for him, Avornmagor took the torch to the ship and set it on fire. Those who stayed behind, hidden in the woods nearby said they could hear screams of death coming from the Longship and that in the end many ghost-like forms departed the deck of the burning ship and flew high in the sky.
One Era later Avornmagor followed his childhood companion, Antediluvian, South with his army. They were going to attack the Aelyrian Kingdom for glory and plunder, although Fafnirsson also knew that it was for Antediluvian’s love for the Queen Candace du Rose, King Constantine’s wife. Victory was near at hand, the Aelyrian Army stood no chance against the might of the Vagaran and Abestat was taken being followed by Colonia soon after.
Victory seemed at hand when news came that Aeric, Antediluvian’s cousin, had took arms against him and was marching South to recover what belonged to King Constantine. Filled with rage Antediluvian left Colonia and took his army north to fight the betrayer. Avornmagor followed him and honored his vow. When the armies clashed in the ford of Abe’s river in what was forever remembered as the Battle of the Blood, Avornmagor took command of the right flank and although the battle didn’t go in their favor he fought relentlessly. When Antediluvian fell he understood what fate awaited them all and with all those he could muster opened a way through Aeric’s army and helped whatever survivors he found escaping North.
Many a prisoner were saved from Aeric’s assassin madness by Avornmagor’s raids to the White Knight’s camp. His deed remembered, respect and loved even among Aeric’s men, who had fought against their kin without wanting to, to fulfill their oath to Aeric only.
Hunted by Aeric’s men, Fafnirsson returned to the Hinterlands and in the very North of the Eastern side of Libertas Bay, facing Trident Isle and the Eastern Ocean he settled with his people. The village he founded was named Gonehameau in honor to a companion, Gone, who died so he could live. In this village Avornmagor dreamt of mustering an army and defeat Aeric and his pity King. Time and age made him wise and he understood that taking arms against such foes would only mean the end of his people.
Time passed and his offspring came to light. Freyr Avornmagorsson, his first son and heir, Sigrid Dorasdotter, his beautiful long haired daughter and Kelsig Avornmagorsson, his youngest son who later became a warriorpoet.
Upon Avormagor’s death, Freyr assumed his position of Jarl and in a feast in the Meadhall of Gonehameau offered his sister’s hand in marriage to the Jarl of another village located near Terenshire. The Meadhall trembled in excitement as the marriage’s day approached, a marriage that would unite two powerful villages in an Alliance unseen since Antediluvian’s youth. Sigrid Dorasdotter espoused Norbert Olafson who was greatly honored with this chance of marrying a descendant of the great hero Avornmagor.
To what regards Freyr Avornmagorsson’s heritage it still lasts until the present Brightening, in the form of the family Avornmagor which still inhabits Gonehameau except for two of its members, Eyvind and Erik Avornmagor, Björnssons.
The Black Shields originally began as the First Centuri of the Second Daos of the Ninth Imperial Legion, an elite Heavy Infantry under then Daekin Eyvind Avornmagor Björnsson, nicknamed the Redbeard. With the subsequent and exponential promotions of their commander the unit was later expanded to encompass the First Cohort and then the entire First Covu of the Second Daos of the Ninth Legion, also known as the Manjet Legion.
Formed by hand-picked veterans of mostly Vagaran stock the Black Shields went on to fight on the Second and Third Sherian Wars, first against the Orckish Assembly of Orckon and then against the forces loyal to Prince Milo L'Evienne. They have reached notoriety in both conflicts and took part in such confrontations as the Ratta Rebellion of Taralon, the Battle of Manjet Hill (also known as Battle of Hiems), the Reclaiming of Narim, the Battle of Narim, the Battle of the Bleeding Pass (also known as Battle of the Wall) and the Darkening of the Long Knives (also known as the Fall of Taralon). Since the end of the Third Sherian War, with the fall of Taralon, the remaining Black Shields have since broken up into a number of smaller groups with a portion being moved to Port Alyxandrya to offer protection to the survivors of Taralon who settled the Talyx District, some remaining in the Sherian and others moving out entirely to places as disparate as the Neos Megalis district of Secyclion.
Combat Doctrine & Equipment
Wearing blackened heavy scale-mail armour and Corinthian style helmets with black plumes and carrying their long spears and large tower shields the Black Shields form in a terrific sight in battle as their spear and shield wall advances with steel discipline. Being the Legion’s best example of efficiency they usually operate at the Centuri level forming in a wide line, with one Domanus in each side of their Daekin’s Command Manus. Each of these Domanii is backed by another. Forming a four lines deep and forty five columns strong block of men, discipline, courage and steel.
The Black Shields are an offensive unit, preferring to engage the enemy where it hides than sitting back and watch it gain terrain. Their advance isn’t as fast as that of other units, but it is steady to avoid breaches in the line. Once they contact with the enemy the first line locks their shields and the second closes in to avoid having the formation pushed back by the enemy. With their position set they start thrusting and piercing the enemy while advancing. Their preferred method is pushing the enemy back with their shields and thrust with their spears, push them again and thrust. By doing this repetitively they make sure their formation is secure and that the enemy suffer casualties in throngs. When it comes to closer -, tighter - fighting they usually resort to their swords or even their daggers.
Although many other units use this strategy the Black Shields have changed it slightly. Their combat formation doesn’t try to be parallel to the enemy's line, instead forming a slight triangle with their leader in the edge, pushing forward to break through the enemy while the Domanii on both sides push and thrust. This enables the Black Shields to possess great offensive capabilities and allows them to pierce the enemy unit and divide it in two thus enabling the two reserve Domanii to move through the gap and encircle the enemy. Of course, this tactic only works if there are no more enemies aside of the group immediately in front of them. If there are the two reserve Domanii will form in the same way the first line ones and charge in.
The Black Shields’ equipment consists of:
Heavy Scale-mail going down to the knee
Corinthian style helmet with dark plumes
Imperial Longsword
Eight feet long Spear
Backpack containing all the Legionnaire’s belongings and carrying all the survival equipment needed in a campaign (i.e.: combat rations)
One long dagger
*All armours, shields, helmets, sword sheaths and cloaks are blackened.
**Soldiers can carry the symbol of the White Wolf on them if they want, it must not stand out much in their uniform.

Part 1: The Basics
1. What is your full name?
Eyvind Redbeard Avornmagor Björnsson
2. Where and when were you born?
I was born in Gonehameau, a little town in northern Libertas Peninsula in the 2nd of Ioannes of Era 10181 Pre Fracture.
3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
My father was a brave and honorable man who went by the name of Björn Avornmagor Brandrsson and he was forcefully enlisted in the Imperial Legions while my mother was a house-wife with an unending heart and is called Hilde Astrydsdotter. While my father died bravely in battle and was buried in Aelyria Prime my mother still lives in Gonehameau.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
I have two younger siblings, Erik and Neasa and they are both similar to me when it comes to physical appearance. They're tall, fair and redheaded and both follow the path of honor as taught to us by our deceased father.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
I am currently being held in the Black Tower in Aelyria Prime inside a windowless cell and the only contact I have with setient creatures is when the guards come bring me my meals.
6. What is your occupation?
Currently I am a prisioner but my main occupation is the leadership of men during cases of war. I am a general.
7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.I am tall, actually I'm towering. I am seven feet tall! For my height I'm heavy and that's mostly due to my physical preparation for the endurances of war, I'm a soldier after all. Born of Vagaran parents I am, as one would guess, a Vagaran and even if rare among my people my hair is red as is my beard. My eyes on the other hand are the usual icy blue of my kin.
Commonly I will only be seen dressing my military uniforms or simple tunics with high boots. Perhaps if you see me in my homeland you'll think a barbari of me because I'll surely use furs to protect myself from the cold but then again, I rarely go there anymore.
I have some scars but the most notable ones I earned at great expense. There is the mark of the White Wolf's claw in my left shoulder, the scar of one of Fidelis swords in my neck and the scar of the hole the other one did in my chest. As for tattoos I have a single one, or perhaps it's not just one but plenty put together. It's a black vine that encircles my left eye and it has a thorn tattoed to it for every enemy I defeated in combat.
8. To which social class do you belong?
In the Aelyrian society I am what can be called a Milites since I am a soldier, among my people I am a Hersir and a Järl since I command men in battle and own the lands of my ancestors.
9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
Not that I am aware of.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
200% right handed. It means it is confusing to me the use of the left hand to do almost anything with a degree of accuracy slightly higher than the usual.
11. What does your voice sound like?
My voice is deep and strong, I need to make myself heard in the ruckus of battle after all. When enraged it is poisonous and sharp.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
'The Kingdom must be destroyed.' would possibly fit the requirements.
13. What do you have in your pockets?
I usually don't have pockets but instead a pouch in my belt. In there I keep some special items like a medallion, a bundle with a wolf's fang, a bear's claw and a crow's feather and some coins and other personal objects.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I like to make myself heard and respected.
Part 2: Growing Up
15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
How can one describe the childhood of a Vagaran child? Tough! Yeah we lived in this cold place and the pirates were always peering at us to see if we would be weak and easy to catch. The wolves didn't help either and the lords and ladies down in Jaedaxia used to forget about us on a Brightening-to-Brightening basis.
16. What is your earliest memory?
My father teaching me how to make a knot.
17. How much schooling have you had?
I did have basic Schola and a bit of instruction from the people of the town but nothing beyond that until I formally enlisted in the Imperial Legions and underwent the Officers' Training.
18. Did you enjoy school?
It was entertaining but I was keener to miss classes just to meet the cute girls behind the barn than to listen to the Monk of Faith that visited us every Cycle preaching about the greatness of the Emperors of Old.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
I learned how to survive on my own in the northern coasts like any Vagaran worthy of his name. Aside of that I learned a lot in the Imperial Legions.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
Obviously! My father! I wanted to be like him and honor the gods, the family, the clan and the tribe.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Pretty well I'd assume. Erik and I were always hanging together and when cousin Harvengure came about trying to convince us not to bail class we used to drag him along to meet some nice girls.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a hero and to do what was right, whatever that might have been.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Exploring, I loved exploring the town and everything around it.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
I was irreverent mostly but I knew how to smile and talk with the old ones.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I was popular for sure, it just wasn't the best kind of popularity. You see, my family had once ruled the town where we lived until the current Järl's father or something of the sort usurped the position. My family was looked down upon because of that and I was known for being a brat even when I wasn't, much.
26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
I was eleven and her name was Hingrid. She was gorgeous but the winter got her one Brightening and we mourned her death.
27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
No. I lost my virginity when I was twelve with Hingrid's sister, Agira.
28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
I'd say the main influences would be my desire to be like my father was and the upholding of all oaths I take, no matter the consequences.

30. Who has had the most influence on you?
