This is the Third of Five Expositions and the conclusion of the three part main exposition threads for the chronosynch, "Eclipse of Chaos". These concluding events are viewable by all, just as the last exposition was, through the Eclipse and the hole in the sky over Pantheon (in Ariumite Highlands). This event is happening on the first of Tempris

Continued from here...

The threat was over: Aeternia and Aetheria could once again war over the Throne of Eternity without the possibility of being wholly consumed by the Void, and there was no Planetar looking to upset the best laid plans of both sides alike. Silence had echoed in the nothingness as Maj dragged the Prince Potentate away, the regal Archon a stark contrast to the former Archon who was now little more than battered insignificance. Off in the distance, it appeared that Rak was literally hurled over the side of Aetheria and into the blankness below, presumably back to his plane. His followers felt their hearts sink: his power had diminished significantly.

The lesser of the Aeternians braced themselves, collecting their belongings and preparing to renew the assault. The Aetherians mimicked these actions, though with mournful hearts. Jorel’s own desires were born anew, and he prepared to rush the Tower once more… until the last Aeternian bid him pause.

”Your conduit of Chaos is gone now,” Came his monotone voice from the edge of Aetheria, the Lord of Death standing at the very end of the Excaleris. ”The balance was upset from the beginning.” He glanced skyward, and the tiniest hint of a mortifying face was revealed. He was looking to Ioannes; he was looking to the Sacred Three.

”A mistake at its inception.” Stated Jalat, ”Vengeful. Spiteful. Emotions you felt towards your betrayer. You devoted these things to one assignment: the idea of Command.” Before he could continue outlining Ioannes’ failure in the creation of Diana, Aslan interceded.

”A new god is required. Where Diana encompassed command, control and conquest, a god is needed for dominance over creation itself. We must unify the state below in her absence.”

Meephos gave a guttural laugh that caused those below to shudder. ”Don’t you see, you pathetic excuse for Honor! Diana was ours from the get-go! A creation corrupted by Aeternia’s might. She was a venue of chaos, a channel through which we could access Aetheria! You’ve got to admit – this new goddess? Going to be an Aeternian.”

Jalat raised his free hand in the air towards the rest of the gathered gods and continued to direct his attentions to Ioannes and his three companions. ”If you truly wished to replace Didis… Your new goddess should have been one of compassion and mercy in addition to the only appropriate designation for Diana: Unity of State.”

Haya growled and attempted to interfere with this notion, but Jalat was quick to cut her off. ”The Age of Heroes is coming to the Material Plane. The new deity must be one of Heroes. Heroism falls into both Aeternian and Aetherian realms. Such divinity is not mutually exclusive.

”All that remains for either side to do is wait. The God of Heroes will emerge, naturally, when they are needed. It would be a mistake for either pantheon to create it.”
Jalat mused coolly, giving a bit of a shrug. Then, without another word, he turned and began to head down the Excaleris once more.

Jorel was quick to follow, giving an angry roar and a thrust of his hand intending that Haya, Meephos, Ainlar and Risthal should come with him if they wanted to live. The embodiments of hate and fear were quick to descend themselves, stealing away like defeated thieves in the night running from the law.

As they passed through the Excaleris, the Archons were quick to bar the pathway back up. Cherubs, Seraphs and even Xaria herself were quick to assist in escorting them out, though none was brave enough to lead the gods out like prisoners or rejected patrons. As they departed Rixx and briefly tore their way back into the Material Plane, Jalat paused for a moment and looked at the mortals who were watching.

He said nothing, but a feeling of adrenaline was left in the wake of his gaze. The Aeternians passed by him and descended back into the darkness of their own prison. When he finally followed them, relief washed over Telath.

The Age of the Darkening had ended. The prophecy was fulfilled. The bet had been made, and somewhere in a garden, the victor was smiling at her success. This was not exactly the way the end had been anticipated, but it was even more appropriate and satisfying nonetheless. The rightful Queen could now reclaim her throne and the conduit of Chaos in Aetheria existed no more. Materna was no longer able to threaten Aetheria with her own delusions of returning to a life where she commanded creation, but at the cost of Srennius. Perhaps in time the Aetherians would remember the fallen Archon fondly, though without a creature to act as the vessel of peace, one might wonder to whom such an obligation might fall.

The wounded heavens slowly began to stitch themselves together again as the bleeding sky dried up and scabbed over, the tear fading into nothingness and resuming the normalcy of a cloud-filled sky high above Pantheon.

The Age of Heroes had begun.
