Aelyria Prime:
First Legion "The Empress' Own / The Praetorian Guard” Aelyria Prime
The Imperial Palace was gone. Undeniable, inescapable, and while that in itself was a terrible thing - the months since the destruction of the centrepiece of the Imperial Government had led towards an even greater realisation. The loss of the Empress hadn’t in fact changed all that much within the Capital - rather, it had been the loss of the tens of thousands of civil servants that went into the operations of maintaining the logistics and organisation of keeping it together.
“Let the Governor know we have sufficient eye-witness accounts of the incident.” the Imperator of the Praetorian Guard sighed. “Inform the Ancient's Mincinno and Castellion that justice will be done for the murder of their citizens along with misuse of magic. The incident has been referred to the Justicar’s Office, we don’t have time to be handling civilian affairs further. Set the bounty upon former Imperial Mage Z’kron at five thousand crowns and ring it in.”
Only, almost everything that the Empress’ Own these last few months had been civilian affairs. Trying to stem the periodic activities of the Ratta within the Province had been almost an effort in futility. The Legions had never been designed to contend with those that raised from the Nightlands nor were they so stupid as to chase the vermin into the tunnels. They did what they could and when they could - but for all intents and purposes? The Capital was operating under command of the Legion under the auspices of the Lord Governor Threllius de Lylles of Prime Province, Viceroy of the Imperium.
Phondra:
Second Legion "Striking Thunder” Phondra - Sherian/Maeve
Spread thin between Phondra to the East and the Maevewoods to the West of the Khardran, the Second Legion held the line. With some two thousand Guardsmen holding the Maeve border and another two thousand Guardsmen holding the Sherian border, the problems had been few and far between. There was always the token adventurers and heroes to be found wishing to brave the hostile region of Orcs and Undead alike - and patience had been wearing all sorts of thing from Command.
The order given, that if the idiots wanted to go play hero? All well and good. Entry was no longer to be denied to those that would pick over the ruins of the Sherian. But nor would any be granted re-admittance. The dangers far too great and the threats unknown: access might have been granted, but the order to capture or shoot those who returned from the Sherian remained intact. Too many lives had been lost over the years due to traitors and monsters alike and nothing had changed to give a stay upon the Imperial Guard’s current status with the border.
Khardra Pass:
Third Legion "Crashing Lightning” Khardra Pass
One disaster after another, and the task of holding the Khardra Pass had become more fraught with peril as the reports of trouble to the East had only mounted. Shipments from Candaceburg were proving to be all that more erratic in frequency, the raids from the Rodenti increasingly demanding the attentions of the Third Legion. And then the Ogre Kingdom of Khardra had started its raid upon the pass and the low-lands - striking out at the base of the mountains, Orcs and Goblins, Kobolds and Trolls alike had taken to raiding the hamlets and farms.
Food was becoming that much more scarce a resource as the supply chains that led into the heart of the Imperium were under siege.
